A Few Comments about Water

Many people advise that you make sure you are getting plenty of "fluids" yet neglect to tell you what KIND of fluids you should be having. Some fluids will harm you, especially if you are dealing with any particular health problem. Water is ALWAYS the fluid of choice. The majority of your body is water, without it everything goes awry. Soda's and all forms of caffeine are an ABSOLUTE NO NO! Caffeine and sugar will tend to dehydrate you, make your blood sticky, and bind with the vitamins and minerals preventing you from absorbing them, not to mention messing up your ph balance. In some cases, perhaps as in toxemia and anemia, even fruit sugars should be avoided for a time until the body can improve it's general nutrition levels and function and rebuild to be able to handle them. If juice is consumed at all it should be home squeezed with no sugar added; processed juices from the store usually have many harmful things besides added sugar. Even fruit sugars can feed yeast, the waste from which will add the the toxic levels in in body and also make it more susceptible to bacterial type infections and immune system incompetency.

Due to the fact that many places add chlorine and/or fluoride to their water, filters are a MUST. The only downside of this is that they can remove some of the good things- i.e. minerals- from the water as well, which in turn can affect your ph balance and prevent your body from being able to absorb the water. If you are drinking a lot but still not getting enough fluids, or have problems with water retention/swelling, try adding lemon juice to your water. This alters the ph balance enough for you body to be able to absorb the water; that way you are not drinking ridiculous quantities of water and still "dying of dehydration" as it were.
